MP Harris Statement on the Attack of October 22

Yesterday’s terrible attack will be forever in the minds of Canadians, and more so because of the tragic loss of Corporal Nathan Cirillo. We pray for his loved ones and also for the speedy recovery of Constable Samearn Son. All Canadians are extremely grateful for the bravery of our Sergeant-at-Arms, Kevin Michael Vickers and his team, the RCMP, Ottawa Police, our armed forces and all those first responders who were selfless in their service under horrific circumstances. Without such bravery, the attack would surely have had even greater consequences.
This incident has shaken us all that work on Parliament Hill and I believe every day forward we will feel much different as a result. However, as Canadians we are men and women of hope and peace. Together we will continue to work for this peace in the world and for the common good of humanity.
